The bridle on the horse head was gilded with faux gold leaf and the pedestal was gilded with faux silver leaf to visually lift the pedestal from the floor. The pattern on the pedestal was gilded with faux gold leaf to give a contrast and to tie in with the horse head bridle. The effect of the horse head statue and pedestal with a black and white floor gives the effect of a chess board.
